“Although there weren’t any Algonquin players on his roster, [Dan Welty] took nine high school juniors and seniors to Australia from other area schools. To round out the roster, the club added 15-year-old twins from Sydney. … The team, which played under Welty’s Spider Field Hockey club name, met mixed success during its trip. In the opening game, the squad played to a 2-2 draw but things were a little different when it came time to play at the Illawarra Hockey Club, a few hours south of Sydney.” … Full story
