The town of Westborough and EMC, Corp have resolved a dispute that had stood in the way of EMC’s proposed office park on the Southborough-Westborough town line. The Westborough Conservation Commission had rejected EMC’s original proposal because it did not provide enough detail about drainage and other aspects of environmental impact.
The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) first upheld the town’s ruling, then EMC appealed and the DEP partially reversed its decision leading the two sides to come to an agreement. EMC will resubmit their proposal with more information and the town will not rejected it based on lack of information. Of course, they could still reject it for other reasons.
Southborough is engaged in similar squabbling with EMC. The Planning Board rejected EMC’s proposal because they didn’t have time to review last-minute details provided by EMC. EMC appealed the decision and both sides were ordered back to the table. EMC will go before the Planning Board again in October. Stay tuned.
