I know Southborough residents have many talents, but I didn’t know puppeteer was one of them. Deborah Costine, a Southborough resident, has been making and performing with puppets for 34 years as half of The Gerwick Puppets. She and Len Gerwick will present their 5,000th performance this weekend. 5,000th. Wow, that’s a lot of puppeteering.
Read more about Costine and her puppets in this article from Metrowest Daily News.
The Gerwick Puppets will perform their “Inside the Haunted House” show this weekend at the Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline with shows at 1:00 and 3:00 pm each day. If you want to catch the special 5,00th performance, plan to attend the special performance on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Hi Susan!
My “google alerts” sent me to your site. Thank you for the very nice story about Gerwick Puppets. It has been a long and very busy, fun career!
I had visited your blog just recently as a possible way to post information about my local interest, the Southborough Open Land Foundation. My part in it is to organize “family walks” on various “S.O.L.F.” properties. – plus our annual River Fest!
Good job on the blog!
Its not too late to come to a show! come this weekend at the Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline!!

Debbie, thanks for you comments! Good luck with your shows this weekend, and definitely send me SOLF info as it arises (see the Contact link at the top of the page). I’d be happy to post about the events. Full disclosure, I’m a SOLF member. :)
