I left a Zoning Advisory Committee meeting last night (more on that in an upcoming post) to find my car — and the roads — coated in ice. My drive home from the Senior Center was a white-knuckled one.
The main roads — Route 85 and Route 30 — were just wet, but the secondary roads I traveled were coated in a sheet of ice. I kept my speed to 10 mph, any more and the car started slip-sliding away, and made it home in one piece.
The Boston Globe reports other drivers weren’t so lucky. As many as 40 cars on I-495 were involved in accidents last night thanks to the ice.
Anyone else face an icy drive last night?
Not just you. Deerfoot was so bad even in the flat parts around 9:15 that I called the police. The dispatcher had been getting a lot of other calls, too.
