Now that their elevator is up and running, the Arts Council is looking forward to offering a full schedule of events and programs in 2009. But in order to make that happen, they need your help.
There are a range of opportunities available through the Arts Council and Friends of the Arts Center, whether you have a limited amount of time to devote to the arts or you want to get more involved.
Here are some ways you can help:
Exhibits
Volunteers are needed to chair or co-chair Arts Center exhibits, or to participate as exhibit committee members. People are also needed on a limited basis to help hang exhibits, contribute food to an opening, or provide general help during an opening.
Fundraising
The Arts Center relies in part on local businesses for financial support and needs a volunteer for 1 hour a month to send letters to solicit support and acknowledge donations they’ve received. Letters to member donors also need to be sent.
The Arts Council is looking for fundraising ideas and for people willing to chair or co-chair a fund raining committee.
One fundraiser that’s already planned is an update to the Southborough town phonebook (hooray!). The Arts Council needs volunteers to coordinate ad sales and help compile data.
Arts Council
The Arts Council is the group that plans and coordinates all the activities at the Arts Center, and they’re looking for members. Members are required to attend monthly meetings September through June.
At the Arts Council, a secretary is needed to record and distribute minutes at the monthly meetings. A member is also needed to manage the annual LCC grant process in the fall.
The Arts Council meets tonight at 7:15 pm at the Arts Center Gallery (21 Highland Street).
