Register for the Jeanne Arathuzik Memorial 5k Run/Walk

arathuzikSomehow I missed this when it happened earlier this year, but Dennis Wrenn was not the only loss the Algonquin community faced this year. Jeanne Arathuzik, a much-loved Spanish teacher at Algonquin for 15 years, succumbed to cancer in January. A lifelong Northborough resident, she was only 52 when she died.

Next month the Algonquin Regional Teachers’ Association will hold the First Annual Jeanne Arathuzik Memorial Cinco de Mayo 5K Run/Walk in her honor. It will take place on May 3 at Algonquin. Proceeds will benefit scholarships in Arathuzik’s name (including a travel abroad scholarship), as well as the American Cancer Society. Arathuzik’s son Timothy, an Algonquin grad, also died of cancer in 2007 at the age of 25.

Early registration for the run/walk ends on April 15, so act soon. You can find registration information along with more information about Arathuzik at the event website.
