Saturday night is prom night for Algonquin juniors. And you can help the kids have a good — and safe — time just by buying some peanut butter or milk or frozen peas or whatever happens to be on your grocery list.
That’s because Roche Bros. in Westborough is donating a portion of its sales on Friday evening to help fund the Algonquin post-prom party.
All you have to do is shop at Roche Bros. from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday and then give your receipt to one of the Algonquin volunteers on your way out. Roche Bros. will donate 5% of all collected receipts toward the post-prom party.
And in case you’re wondering, the post-prom party is a school-organized event that extends the fun of prom in a safe, drug-free, and alcohol-free way.
After the prom (to be held this year at Lake Pearl Luciano’s in Wrentham), students will meet at Algonquin and board buses to the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, where they spend the overnight hours playing games and doing whatever it is kids do in brightly-lit spaces.
The party is funded entirely through donations.
