If you drove by the library last weekend, you might have noticed big blue tarps covering the front steps. After the flooding in July, Library Director Jane Cain said they weren’t taking any chances with tropical depression Danny. “With hurricane predictions and lots of rain on the way, we took some precautions,” she said.
Cain said they’ve contacted a mason about filling some cracks in the front steps and repointing some of the brick. Town officials are also talking about what other steps to take to prevent flooding in the future.
This is truly a gem of a building! If they are going to repair the steps, perhaps they could also look at the brick walkway nears the cement sidewalk. Walking over these raised bricks can be difficult and I have lost my footing there on occasion.
