Selectmen have left open the possibility of using an assessment center to help evaluate final candidates for the police chief position. Assessment centers put candidates through a series of job-related simulations, interviews and/or psychological tests. They can help evaluate how a candidate might behave in critical areas of the job.
Selectmen put out an RFP for an assessment center, and tonight will interview representatives from two companies who responded — Badge Quest of West Yarmouth and MMA Consulting Group of Boston.
Selectmen have said they will look to the Police Chief Search Committee for a recommendation on whether to use an assessment center to evaluate the final candidates. Such a recommendation hasn’t been made yet, but selectmen want to have an assessment center lined up and ready to go in case it is.
Tonight’s meeting is open to the public. It begins at 7:15 at the Town House Hearing Room (second floor).
