Thomas W. McAuliffe, longtime Southborough selectman, has died

Former Southborough Selectman Thomas W. McAuliffe died yesterday at Beth Israel Hospital. He was 76.

McAuliffe most recently lived in Dennisport, but was a longtime resident of Southborough. He served as selectman from 1970 to 1999. The hearing room at the Town House is named in his honor.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time, but are under the direction of the Morris Funeral Home in Southborough. I’ll share more details as I get them.

Tom was an honest man, who, when he was a Selectman, ALWAYS did what was right for the town. Not always a yes man, but his word was his honor. Truly the end of an era.
