The Algonquin boys soccer team lost to Ludlow in the state semifinal match yesterday by a score of 2-1. After capturing the division title on Monday, they finish the season with a record of 18-2-2.
It was a better result for the girls’ state semifinal bout yesterday. They won a marathon match against defending state champions Minnechaug by a score of 3-2. After two overtimes, the teams were still tied, so the match was decided by penalty kicks.
The win means the girls will head to the state championships for the first time ever. They’ll face either Acton-Boxboro or Whitman-Hanson, pending the outcome of the other semifinal match tonight. The state final game will be on Sunday at Worcester State College (time TBA).

Bummer for the boys, but congrats to the girls. The Div 1 State final is this Sunday, 11/22 @ 6:30PM, at Worcester State College. Come out and show your support!
