The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports the MWRA dam in Southborough is one of six that will get upgrades sometime next year:
GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. of Norwood has been hired by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority to lead a $1.5 million design contract for upgrades to six of the MWRA’s dams throughout the Boston area. The dams scheduled for renovation include ones in Framingham, Weston, Southboro and Newton, starting in 2011.
No word on whether the work will impact the nearby Nichols House. Town officials have asked the MWRA to donate the old house to the town so it can be used as a history museum. So far those requests have been unsuccessful.
