The Southborough Education Foundation wants you to “bee” there (did I really just write that?) on Friday night for the third annual SEF Spelling Bee at Trottier Middle School.
It’s an event that will pit team against team in a battle of orthographic skills. There will be teams of teachers and principals from each of the schools, along with a parent team, a team of local veterinarians, and a student team from Algonquin, among others.
But the event is not just about the spelling competition. There’s also a silent auction and a raffle. The silent auction this year features a 3-night stay at Sugarbush’s Clay Brook Resort. Complete with 3 days of ski passes for four people, the package is valued at over $3,000.
Raffle items include a Bose Wave Radio, Beastie drawing books from Mr. LaChance, Red Sox and Patriots tickets, autographed sports memorabilia, gift certificates to local businesses, and even a unicycle (who doesn’t want a unicycle?).
Doors open for bidding on the Sugarbush vacation package at 6:00 pm, and the spelling bee starts at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $1 for students, $2 for adults, and $5 for a family. Proceeds benefit SEF and their support for teaching programs at Southborough schools. You can learn more on their website (www.southboroughed.org).
