Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and on May 1, Southborough will hold it’s 20th annual Earth Day Clean Up event.
Residents collected more than 100 garbage bags of trash from along Southborough roadways during last year’s clean up event, and volunteers are needed to help out again this year.
The clean up starts on Saturday, May 1, at 8:30 am at the Department of Public Works building by the Transfer Station.
You can sign up in advance and adopt your favorite part of town by calling the DPW at 508-485-1210, or show up the morning of the event and pick a section of town. Trash bags will be provided, but you should bring work gloves.
Volunteers will get coffee and pastries the morning of the event. T-shirts will also be distributed on a first-come basis. After the clean-up, volunteers can stop by the gazebo on Main Street for pizza, soda, and ice cream.
The rain date is Sunday, May 2.
