I love quilts. I’ve even made a few in my day. So it’s no surprise I enjoyed the Form & Fiber exhibit now showing at the Southborough Arts Center.
While there is no shortage of quilts at the exhibit, there are also plenty of other types of fiber art, like a collection of intriguing dolls by Nancy Garcelon. And then there’s the sculpture — the “form” portion of Form & Fiber — in materials like pink lace alabaster, Utah tangerine alabaster, and Danby marble.
The show runs through May 3, at the Southborough Arts Center (map). The gallery will be open both days this weekend from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, with a docent available to show you around. You can also stop by Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for a self-guided tour.
A meet-the-artists reception is schedule for May 1. More details as I get them.
Below are some photos I took of the exhibit. Click any thumbnail to enlarge and view as a slideshow.
Great photos!!! Thanks for stopping by and taking them.
The Form & Fiber show at the Southborough Art Center is really a beautiful and vibrant exhibit and worth a quick visit with a nice cup of coffee or tea in hand. Take 10-20 minutes and enjoy the amazing creativity of these women. You will be surprised at how much you will want to reach out and touch each piece. They are that magnetic!!!
I promise you will leave the Art Center feeling happy!!!!!
If you do stop by, please post your impressions here!
Also the May 1, Meet the Artist event is a must do. The artists are so much fun and they love to talk about what inspired their work. There are some good stories behind those quilts and sculptures!!
