Middle Road home burglarized

Kim Deans has lived in Southborough for 15 years, and said she always felt safe. She might feel less so now. On Monday, Deans’ home on the south side of Middle Road was burglarized.

“They popped out a screen in the garage and then took a crowbar to the basement door,” Deans wrote in an email. She said the thief or thieves took cash, all their jewelry, a DVD player, and a Bose sound system. Deans called the loss “substantial.”

Deans said a week before the break-in, her son spotted a white van combing the neighborhood, and she suspects it’s related. “Everyone needs to watch and to report any suspicious strangers to the Southborough Police,” she said.

Last year around this time, Southborough Police warned residents to be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles in their neighborhoods thanks to a rash of burglaries in which thieves were getting into homes by slashing screens on open windows and doors.

I’m so sorry to hear this happened to the Deans. Will keep my eyes peeled on the south side.

Two cars were broken into on Monday at Kaz parking lot. Lock your cars too.

Rachel,

Over the past few years, there have been several cars broken into on the east bound side of Rt 9. Also, Long Cadillac/Hummer has had several tires stolen from cars. I believe the crimes have ALL happened on the east bound side of Rt 9 versus the wet bound side. Odd, yet still, very sad to see crimes anywhere in Southboro and quite the problem for the victim as well.

Do you know the time of day these crimes occurred?

It happened in the afternoon, between 2-5pm.
