This week we’re talking summer camp options, and the Southborough Recreation Department has some for all ages. You can find all the details, along with registration information, on their website, but here’s a summary of the offerings.

Kids Kamp
Located at the Finn School playground, Kids Kamp offers a nurturing and fun environment for children aged 2.9 (must be potty trained) to entering first grade. Weekly sessions run Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with an optional one-hour lunch period for an additional fee. The camp fee is $100 per week plus $40 per week for the optional lunch hour.

Junior Zone
This camp, located outdoors at the Woodward School, offers a variety of fun and active programs for kids entering grades two through four. Under the supervision of the ever-popular Ms. Goode, Woodward PE teacher, each session offers a combination of outdoor games and sports, arts and crafts, playground play, and science and water activities.  Sessions run Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with an optional one hour lunch period for an additional fee. The camp fee is $100 per week plus $40 per week for the optional lunch hour.

Tween Adventure
New this year, Tween Adventure offers a variety of activities for kids entering fifth and sixth grades. Throughout the day, activities such as gym games, outdoor sports, art and science projects, water games, and theme day events are offered. The camp runs from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Picnic lunches and trips to local eateries are included. On Wednesdays campers may opt to attend a weekly off-site field trip to fun locations like Water Wizz, Canobie Lake Park, and Water Country.  Field trips will depart at 9:00 am and return at 4:00 pm. The fee for Tween Adventure is $125 per week plus an optional $40 for field trips.

Counselor in Training (CIT) Program
The CIT program is for young adults who wish to gain experience and training in one-on-one skills and group leadership, while working with children in a camp setting. CITs assist camp counselors at one of our camp locations.  CITs must be entering seventh grade at a minimum, and may sign up for as many one week sessions as they wish.  Hours are 8:30 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday, and space is limited. The rate for CITs is $80 per week.
