Yesterday was a good day for the Algonquin girls tennis team in postseason play, but a not so good day for the girls lacrosse team.
On the tennis court, the girls handily won their semifinal match against Nashoba by a score of 5-0. Algonquin will look to defend its crown — and its unbeaten record — at the Division 1 state championship on Friday at 4:00 pm at Clark University in Worcester.
Things didn’t turn out quite as well for the girls lacrosse team. They lost their semifinal match against Shrewsbury yesterday by a score of 17-10. Algonquin coach Melissa Nash told the Metrowest Daily News, “I felt like our team played with a lot of heart, even today when we were down by seven goals with about a minute to go … They held their heads up. I’m proud of how far we came this year.”
