It was an amazing run for the Southboro Little League team, but it came to an end today with a loss to Fairfield, CT in the final game of round-robin play. The boys played their hearts out, holding the lead for most of the game. Fairfield powered back in the top of the sixth inning to tie, and then won in the seventh by a score of 9-8.
You can read more about the game in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
They may not be going on to the finals, but the team certainly has a season to be proud of. Thanks for the ride, boys!
So true, sorry it had to end, but congratulations for getting this far!
what an amazing ride for you and your parents–and the townspeople!, you should be super proud of yourselves!!!!
These kids are all winners.
They took on the best Mass had to offer and won. They are still the Massachusetts State Champs…. You can’t take that away and what a season to look back on.
Outstanding job to the players – coaches and to the Town for supporting this dream.
How many young ball players in Little League even dream of getting as far as these youngsters did? They gave it their best – that’s all you can ask.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m with Steve W all the way on this one. They deserve a huge hand when they come back to town!!!
Great playing. Soon they’ll be able to look back and see all the wins – and the joy of playing.
So very proud of all of them, I was glued to NESN the last couple days, what a great effort and what an amazing season. Thanks for the ride!!
