If you drove down Main Street on Saturday morning, you likely saw all the landscaping work going on in front of the Community House. It was all part of an Eagle Scout project coordinated by scout Ken Zarilli.
Ken told me he and his troop were working that morning on planting shrubs, laying bark mulch, creating new planing beds, and transplanting existing plants to different locations. He said they also raised money at Heritage Day last year and used it to purchase two new benches for the porch.
Have a look at all the hard work in the photos below (click to enlarge). Ken is the one in the red shirt in the photo with Bea.
Now THAT’S good news! What a great project Ken Zarilli and what a great organization Boy Scouts (and Girl Scouts, too!) are. I’ve always thought this town had a beautiful Community House. Thanks for keeping it such a pretty landmark in town.
Terrific! It’s so good to see kids helping take care of our community. I’m hoping that the project included some history–about how we got the house, its donor, and the great group that faithfully takes responsibility for it–the Village Society.
