On Saturday the Drug Enforcement Agency will hold its first ever national prescription drug take-back day. The program provides a safe way for you to dispose of the expired or no-longer-needed prescription drugs that are cluttering up your medicine cabinet.
“This program addresses a vital need in keeping dangerous medicines out of the hands of kids and minimizing toxics getting into our water supply.” State Representative Carolyn Dykema said. “Unused prescriptions flushed down the toilet could end up back in our drinking water, and this program gives consumers a convenient and safe alternative.”
There isn’t a drop-off location in Southborough, but there are some in neighboring towns, including ones at the Hopkinton Police Station (74 Main Street) and the Westborough Police Department (131 Oak Street).
The service is free and anonymous with no questions asked. To find other collection sites visit www.dea.gov.
