Reminder: Care package drive for the troops this weekend

Care package drives for the troops have become a semi-annual tradition in Southborough thanks to the hard work of Southborough residents Lisa Braccio and Debbie Depp-Wilson. The two will hold their 12th drive this weekend at the Senior Center.

You can drop off donations on Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, or Sunday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Volunteers at the Senior Center will box up the goods to ship off to troops stationed in Afghanistan.

Braccio and Depp-Wilson say no donation is too small. Check out this flyer for a list of requested items. If you don’t have time to gather up items from the list, you can still help by making a monetary donation to offset the cost of shipping. Residents are also asked to make cards for the troops to thank them for their service.

Since the first care package drive in 2005, more than 110,000 pounds and 5,000 boxes have been shipped from Southborough to troops overseas. This weekend’s drive will only add to that total.
