Southborough is a small town, and while there’s plenty going on within our borders, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise when a young beat reporter decides to set his sights on bigger markets. Such is the case with Evan Lips.
Evan started covering Southborough (and Northborough) for the Metrowest Daily News last October, but he filed his last report for the paper about a week ago. He’s since left to join the Lowell Sun.
While his time in Southborough was relatively brief, Evan covered some big stories. Notably, he was the reporter to break the news about the investigation of eight town employees last spring.
Evan said he enjoyed his time covering our small town. “I appreciate all of the returned calls, tips, stories and general Southborough knowledge bestowed on me over the past twelve months,” he wrote in an email. “I think the people I met in Southborough are what I miss the most.”
You can reach Evan at his new address elips@lowellsun.com. Please join me in wishing him well.
I wish Evan the best, he was a great person. He wrote some wonderful articles for our Town and covered the Care Package Drives we host here with great heart. He will be missed.
Thank you, Lisa, well said. Best of luck to Evan in his new position. Susan, now we need you more than ever!
