Southborough scouts fundraising for a trip to Alaska

No doubt it will be the trip of a lifetime. Next summer, more than 50 Southborough Boy Scouts will spend 12 days backpacking through Denali National Park in Alaska, testing their skills as outdoorsmen and creating experiences they’ll likely remember forever.

The boys are making all the travel arrangements themselves, including contacting the airlines, and coming up with costs and the itinerary. They’re raising money through a number of fundraising efforts to help defray the cost of the trip.

To that end, on November 6, Southborough Troop 1 will hold what is being billed as Southborough’s largest indoor yard sale. The sale will be set up at Pilgrim Church with at least ten families selling items from clothing to camping gear, toys, books, video games, tools, electronics, and even a large air hockey table.

The troop will also serve coffee, hot dogs, soda, and baked goods, and there will be games offered for the kids.

The yard sale runs from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at Pilgrim Church’s Fellowship Hall.
