Southborough residents showed their generosity this weekend, donating more than 10,000 pounds of food as part of the Boy Scout’s annual Scouting For Food drive. All the food collected goes to support the Southborough Food Pantry.
Last year scouts collected more than 8,000 pounds of food, and had set a goal this year of 10,000 pounds. They reached it easily. As of Saturday afternoon, food pantry volunteers said scouts had collected 10,600 pounds of food. With more donations expected on Sunday, they anticipated the total for the weekend would surpass 11,000 pounds.
Scouting For Food is the biggest food drive of the year for the Southborough Food Pantry.
Great work by the scouts and all the residents who contributed!
Update: With some last-minute collections, the total is now up to 11, 096 pounds. Food pantry volunteer Marge Coldwell says the pantry is “bursting at the seams!”
