Last week Southborough Rotary donated $2,000 in grocery and gas gift gards, laundry detergent, and coffee to the Southborough Food Pantry. The donations were purchased with money raised during Rotary’s annual Heritage Day Road Race. An additional $100 in gas cards was donated by Jim Falconi.
A couple members of Trottier’s Junior Interact Club, Rotary’s service club for students, helped deliver the items to the food pantry.
The Green Mountain Coffee donated was purchased through the Five for Water program in which a portion of the proceeds go toward projects to provide clean water to coffee-producing countries. Bonus.
If you are interested in participating in the Five for Water program by purchsing organic Green Mountain Coffee, contact the Southborough Rotary at southboroughrotary.org, or tessa328@gmail.com
Hi,
(I seem to have lost this comment before–sorry if it’s a repeat.)
The Rotary Club’s contributions to the community aren’t as widely known and appreciated as they might be. They have been in town for many many years and continue to have members who seek out ways to meet sometimes unrecognized needs. So thanks to them–and I bet they’d be interested in some more members–check out their website given above.
Does the food pantry have hours for donations this Friday? My boy loves the food pantry after a school trip last year, and since they’re off on Friday, I think he’d love to bring a donation. I thought the hours were Tuesday evenings and sometime on Fridays. Thanks!
the Food Pantry will be closed on both Christmas Eve Day and New Year’s eve day. Sorry. It will be open tonight, Tuesday, and next Tuesday as well.
