Some of you asked recently whether you’re allowed to use the community skating rink at Woodward during school hours. I checked with Recreation Director Doreen Ferguson, and the answer is you can. A sign posted in the parking lot stating “No public use during school hours during the school year,” is directed at skateboarders, not ice skaters.
So for those of you looking to take to the ice, here’s the schedule:
Monday
Family/open skate: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Youth hockey: 4:00 – 6:00pm
Tuesday
Family/open skate: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Adult hockey: 5:00 – 6:00pm
Wednesday
Family/open skate: 8:00am – 3:00pm
Youth hockey: 3:00 – 6:00pm
Thursday
Family/open skate: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Adult hockey: 4:00 – 6:00pm
Friday
Family/open skate: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Youth hockey: 4:00 – 6:00pm
Saturday & Sunday
Adult hockey: 8:00am – 12:00pm
Family/open skate: 12:00 – 3:00pm
Youth hockey: 3:00 – 6:00pm
Whether the rink is open or not is obviously dependent on the weather. If you’re in doubt, you can check the rink status on the Recreation Department website (southboroughrecreation.com) or by calling 508-485-0710, option 8.
Shovels are available at the rink, so if you show up and and there’s snow, please help clear it off.
