The unemployment rate in Southborough continued its downward trend in December, the latest figures available. In the course of just under a year, Southborough’s jobless rate went from a high of 7.8% in January 2010, down to 5.4% in December.
Statewide and national numbers also fell, but more modestly. While Southborough decreased from 6.0% in November to 5.4% in December, the statewide rate fell only a fraction from 8.1% to 8.0% over the same two months. The national rate was 9.1% in December, down from 9.3% in November.
