The Algonquin boys lacrosse team made a habit of dramatic victories in the run-up to the state finals on Friday night, but sadly there was no late-game magic in the championship match. Despite their best efforts, Algonquin fell to Medfield by a score of 13-9.
Algonquin coach Rich Luongo had this to say after the game:
“That’s a great program,” said Luongo. “I’m proud of my guys. They kept their heads up. We’re trying to get our program to the next level. We’re trying to get our program to that level (of Medfield). I feel that right now, coming out like that is a good showing for the public school systems in Central Mass. We were in the hunt.”
