Summer may be just starting, but a group of Southborough residents are already planning for when it will end. The annual end-of-summer celebration, Southborough Summer Nights, will take place this year on August 28, and organizers are busy getting ready for what they say will be an even bigger and better event.
On the Southborough Summer Nights Facebook group, organizers say this year’s celebration will feature more activities, more food vendors, and new this year, raffle prizes. But to make Summer Nights a success, they’re asking for help.
Director of Recreation Doreen Ferguson said volunteers are needed for 30-minute shifts to monitor the inflatables, man the information and raffle booth, and manage parking. They also need volunteers for a couple of hours to help set up and breakdown the event.
In addition to its volunteers, Summer Nights wouldn’t be possible without its generous sponsors. Ferguson said regular sponsors like Capital Group, St. Mary’s Credit Union, and the Friends of Southborough Recreation have stepped up once again this year, they are still looking for someone to sponsor the band.
