Southborough’s Ann Port knows professional baseball (husband Mike has worked in the sport for more than 40 years), and with a passion for travel, she knows Europe. In her first novel, It’s All In The Title, Port combines the two to weave a tale of mystery, romance, and humor.
A Georgia native raised in Arizona, Ann moved to Southborough in 1992 when her husband accepted a job as Vice President of Baseball Operations for the Red Sox. With her husband on the road much of the time, Ann – an English teacher – turned to writing to keep busy.
Keep busy she did, writing six novels as well as chairing committees that published two community cookbooks, one for St. Mark’s Church and another for the Southborough Gardeners. Each of her novels combine mystery and romance set in the European destinations she loves so much.
It’s All In The Title is the first of her six novels to be published. It tells the tale of Carolyn Charlotte Cleveland, or CC, president of the fictional Indianapolis Knights baseball team. After inheriting an English title and an enormous sum of money from a father she has never met, CC travels to England and eventually Scotland to unravel the mystery of her father’s life and death.
Ann’s book is available on Amazon.com. She will also hold a book signing event at Tatnuck Bookseller in Westborough on Saturday, September 10 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
“It’s All in the Title” is the perfect summer-read book!
This book is a great summer read! In these dog days of August, grab a copy, sit on the beach or under a tree where it is cool and enjoy! If you can’t do that, get a copy for reading by the fire this winter (yes, folks, it will be here before you know it!) Reading this book moved visiting England and Scotland up on our bucket list…descriptions of these countries made visiting them a priority! Layer on top of that mystery, intrigue, romance and some insight into the world of major league baseball and you will find this book has it all! You won’t be sorry you read it and, like I, will eagerly be awaiting Mrs. Port’s next published novel!
The author delightfully captures the scenic descriptions of England. The mystery keeps you wanting to read more and more as Ann Port skillfully weaves the plot to a wonderful conclusion.
Looking forward to reading!!
I took this book to the beach for a leisurely read and I could not put it down. Ann kept my interest throughout the book. My only disappointment is that it ended. I would highly recommend this book.
I am so proud of another “Southborough” author. This is an enjoyable read, but be careful if you start it you won’t want to put it down. That’s why it is such a good summer (vacation) read. Looking forward to more mystery/romance/humor/travel books from Ann Port.
This book is responsible for the dark circles under my eyes. Could not put it down! Ann’s beautiful descriptions of the english countryside and her cliff hanging chapters make for a very enjoyable read!
Couldn’t put it down! Traveling between the fascinating world of baseball and the international intrigue of inheritance and murder kept my interest to the very last page. Ann’s development of the characters made me feel like I knew them. Her detailed descriptions of places and gourmet meals made me feel like I was here. I was pulled right into the plot. This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys romance, history, sports, and mystery. When can you get all of that in one book? It’s All In The Title is a definite winner!
Such fun having a book you enjoyed being written by one of our own. Looking forward to the next .

I really enjoyed IT’S ALL IN THE TITLE immensely. I loved the details of place and cuisine, the intricate plot, and appealing characters. Ann has skillfully combined all the elements of a story so that readers can just sit back and have a fine time with the book.
If they want them, I’d be happy to do so.
