Hurricane Irene isn’t here yet, but already she has claimed a casualty. Recreation Director Doreen Ferguson announced via Facebook moments ago that Southborough Summer Nights has been canceled.
The event was supposed to take place on Sunday evening with a rain date of Monday. Ferguson said both dates have been canceled because of the impending storm, which forecasters say will likely reach our area sometime on Sunday.
“We don’t know what the damage will be on Monday,” Ferguson wrote. “Fields will be soaked. Also, the fire and police will be busy with any damage and emergencies throughout the Town.”
Ferguson said they may try to reschedule the event for sometime in September.
Oh Bummer! This was a wise move, as no one would have attended. I was looking forward to checking this out. Hopefully it’s rescheduled for a weekend that I can attend.
A September re-schedule would be nice.
