What to do with all that nonperishable food you stocked up on

Above: Stocked shelves at the Southborough Food Pantry

Before Tropical Storm Irene hit this week, I went to BJ’s and bought a case of canned soup. And crackers. And tuna. And a bunch of other nonperishable items that are now taking up space in my pantry. You could say I overbought, and the power wasn’t out long enough (thankfully) for us to even make a dent in our supply.

If you’re in a similar boat, why not donate your extra nonperishable items to the Southborough Food Pantry? Good items to donate include cereal, canned chicken, canned ravioli/pasta, snacks, crackers, canned fruit, and other nonperishables. They also accept supplies like liquid dish soap and detergent.

Donations can be dropped off at any church in town, or at the pantry at Pilgrim Church on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 pm and Fridays from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Enter through Fellowship Hall at the north end of the building.

Great suggesitons! I’d wait until after hurricane season though. The storms seem to be lining up down there and we could see another one still..
