Southborough held a ceremony yesterday in remembrance of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The observance, which was held at Southborough’s 9/11 Memorial Field on Acre Bridge Road, was attended by town firefighters, police officers, veterans, clergy, selectmen and state representatives, scouts, and residents.
I wasn’t able to be there, but Southborough photographer Chris Wraight was, and he sent along these photos. (Click to enlarge.)
The United Parishes of Southborough also marked the day by sounding church bells at the moment ten years ago the first plane hit the North Tower and the moment it later fell. You can see (and hear) the bells in this video.
Yesterday’s ceremony was a humbling and moving tribute to all our fallen heroes.
Thank you to all who took the time out of their day to attend and to all who coordinated this memorial. While singling out individuals inevitably leads to the innocent failure to recognize others, specific recognition and thanks are due to Neil Aspesi, Doreen Ferguson, Southborough Police and Fire Departments, the scouting organizations, the young ladies from Algonquin, and our veterans.
It was an honor to participate and those memories will assuredly endure.
