Reminder: The Southborough Library will celebrate its centennial on Saturday with an open house

The Southborough Public Library was founded in 1852, but it wasn’t until 1911 that it moved into its current home on Main Street. The Library is celebrating 100 years in its lovely brick building with a number of festivities this year. On Saturday they’ll host an open house. Read on for more details.

Please plan to join us on Saturday, September 17, for an Open House, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as we mark 100 years at 25 Main Street, Southborough. Although the library was founded in 1852, it was moved to its current location in 1911 on land donated to the Town by the Burnett family. Refreshments will be served, including apple cake baked by Friends of the Library. If you wish to bake, or get involved on the day of the Open House, please contact the Library Director Jane Cain. Thank you!

For the fascinating story of how the Southborough Library came to be, read this post. Better yet, plan on attending a presentation by Nick Noble, author of Fences of Stone – A History of Southborough, Massachusetts, at the library on Wednesday, September 21 at 7:00 pm, where Noble will talk about the history of the Southborough Library.
