The yellow 2011 transfer station stickers expire on Thursday, September 15, so if you haven’t gotten a new one yet, it’s time to do so. You can purchase stickers online or by mail, but they’ll take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive, so at this point you may want to head on over to the DPW office instead.
At the DPW office, be prepared to show proof of residency and a valid car registration. And make sure to bring a check because cash is not accepted.
Rates have gone up, so it will cost you more to get a sticker this year than it did last year. The first sticker costs $175 (compared to $140 last year and $110 the year before), the second sticker is free, and any additional stickers are $50 each. Senior citizens (65 or older by December 31, 2011) get the first two stickers free.
The DPW office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. It’s located adjacent to the Transfer Station. If you have any questions, you can call them at (508)-485-1210.
Curious.
In a matter of seconds, one can apply for the stickers on line – then wait 2 to 3 weeks
for them to be delivered (!!!).
Or – one can gather all of the automobile registrations needed (we keep ours in their
respective vehicles – where they belong), drive to the transfer station, wait in line
then pay with cash or a check (they won’t take plastic!).
Does this seem absurd? (YES!!!)
What’s with the 2-3 week delivery time hold-up for on line orders? Tech-loathing?
I tried online ordering. It seems to work if you want one sticker but not if you want two. I gave up and drove to the DPW.
I ordered online and renewed both with no problem
