I’ve lived in Southborough since 1994 with my husband and two children. I treasure the connections we’ve made in our neighborhood, through the schools, as members of Pilgrim Church, and through the daily interactions that make small-town life so special.
My work history has been varied. A journalism major at Syracuse University, I worked in the publishing industry in and around Boston for many years. Looking for a change and trying to follow my dreams, in the early 1990s I decided to divide my time between journalism and cooking. I was one of the founders of “Family!” magazine (based in Southborough) and I worked for a gourmet food store and a local caterer.
After pausing to have two children in the late 1990s, I re-entered the work force as a teacher at Southborough Village Preschool. While working there, I heard so many parents lament that they wanted to eat better and enjoy traditional family dinners – but didn’t have the time to plan, shop, and cook healthy meals for their families.
Realizing that I loved doing all that, I began to research the Personal Chef industry. It was a perfect fit for me, given my skills and background. I launched Simply Delicious Personal Chef Service in 2007, with the goal of providing simple, delicious meals to busy families in the area.
Here’s a very condensed rundown on how my service works: I meet with new clients at their home, where we discuss their food likes, dislikes, nutrition goals, allergies, and any other special needs. Each week, I craft a personalized menu for each client’s approval. On the designated cooking day, I shop in the morning; bring the fresh ingredients to their home; prepare that week’s meals; package and label them; and clean up after myself. When the clients come home, they find fresh, delicious meals packaged with clear heating instructions. It’s that simple!
I am licensed, insured and Serv-Safe certified. I frequently attend classes to hone my skills, learn about new trends, and network with other personal chefs. I am constantly creating new dishes to please the diverse palates and dietary needs of my very satisfied clients!
