Residents along Parkerville Road south and its side streets were thrilled when their power finally came back on yesterday evening after three days in the dark. So you can imagine their disappointment when power went out again a couple of hours later. It was, in the words of one Southborough resident, “a 2 hour tease.”
Residents of Banfill Lane, Summit Road, Skylar Drive, Fairview Drive, Smith Lane, and portions of Parkerville Road reported power was restored around 7:00 pm yesterday. The lights went back out around 9:00 pm. As of this morning, the National Grid outage map shows power has been restored to all but about five customers in that area, but anecdotal reports suggest it may be out for more homes than that.
Others in Southborough said they received calls from National Grid saying their power was back on, when in fact it wasn’t. Advisory Committee member John Butler, who lives in the Breakneck Hill area, said he received one such automated call from the utility saying his power had been restored, but the garage door opener that didn’t work when he arrived home was his first sign things weren’t as he hoped.
Selectman Bill Boland urged residents who were still without power to call National Grid and report the outage, even if they already had. “You can bet I called them back,” Butler said.
Power was eventually restored to the Breakneck Hill area last night. Woodland and Atwood Road residents also saw their power restored yesterday.
That leaves 78 Southborough customers still without power this morning, according to the National Grid website. The utility says power won’t be fully restored to the town until end of day Thursday.
Update 9:45 am: The National Grid outage map now shows 173 customers in Southborough are without power, 123 of them in the Parkerville Road south area. Word is there are at least four National Grid crews actively working along Parkerville Road right now.
Power may be restored on Sarsenstone. I just called my house and heard my in-house answering machine pick up. That wouldn’t happen without power.
Power is on at Summit Road. Atleast it was an hour back when I was at home. Hopefully we will not lose it again like last night
