Thanksgiving football: Algonquin takes on Westborough at home

The annual Thanksgiving Day match up between Algonquin and Westborough will be all about bragging rights this year. Both sides are going into the game with a 1-9 record, so I don’t believe there are any playoff implications for either team, but no doubt the game with be spirited nonetheless.

The game starts at 10:15 at Algonquin. Algonquin students can purchase tickets in advance for $5. Game day tickets are $10. It will be the 59th time Algonquin and Westborough have met for their turkey day classic.

Thursday’s game will be the final one of the season for Algonquin.

Just to let some of the readers know more about what else will be happening on Thursday besides a football game:

The Algonquin Girls Gymnastic team will receive their 2010-2011 State Title trophy and plaques during the half-time ceremony. (Susan had a great write up back in March)

Also, the new Algonquin Hall of Fame inductees will be announced at half-time as well. I apologize for not knowing which sports the following ‘students’ participated in…maybe you will recognize an old classmate! Neil Cronin, Dan Falcucci, Dave Falcucci, Jennifer Farrell, Jennifer Griffin-Harris, John Frederick Bill O’Connor and Baird Lashley.

I do know that Mr. Lashley is the FIRST varsity wrestler to be inducted to the Hall of Fame. Our Wrestling Boosters have organized a tail-gate party to celebrate this accomplishment before the Algonquin game.

There is also a special luncheon planned on Saturday at Algonquin for all the inductees and their families.

GO T-HAWKS!
