Mary Elizabeth (Donovan) Small, aged 90 years, of Bridgewater, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Copley at Stoughton. She was the wife of Leonard Allan Small; they had been married for 62 years.
She was born in Boston, daughter of the late John and Ellen (Fouhy) Donovan. She was a graduate of St. Patricks School, Boston. Mary was a retired waitress, having worked at the original Fireside Restaurant in South Middleboro, J.J.s, and the Pioneer Restaurant. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Middleboro. Her greatest joy was her family.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, William and his wife Linda Small of Stoughton, John Small of Lebanon, NH, Daniel Small of Southboro, Stephen Small of Brockton, James and his wife Lisa Small of Attleboro, a daughter, Patricia and her husband Thomas Kelly of Bridgewater; nine grandchildren, Gina Payzant, Evan Small, Jesse Small, Kathleen Small, Brian Small, Peter Kelly, Lauren Kelly, Nina Small, and Sophia Small; two great-grandsons, Vincent Payzant and Anthony Payzant. She was the sister of the late John Donovan, Cornelius Donovan, and Timothy Donovan.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro, Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St., Middleboro, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Middleboro.
