Southborough Project Respect to host anti-bullying workshop – Tuesday, January 31

Southborough Project Respect – a collaboration of town departments, parents, and the schools – will host an anti-bully workshop at Trottier next week. The program is intended to give parents, coaches, and those who work with children, hands-on strategies to deal with bullying and tools for building respectful cultures.

The workshop will begin with a presentation by the Lexington, MA based coaching organization Compass for Kids (website), followed by discussion groups for parents, as well as one for professionals.

The workshop takes place on Tuesday, January 31, from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at the Trottier Middle School library.

Southborough Project Respect was founded in 2010 with the goal of promoting respect within our community. It’s a cooperation between Southborough Youth & Family Services, Southborough Extended Day Program, the Recreation Department, Southborough Public Schools, and parents.

I am happy to see this – especially after a comment from a Southborough Mom, who recently enrolled her daughter into another school because of bullying at Trottier. I was bullied many years ago, it is a perennial problem, but now with cyber bullying a kid can’t leave it at school.
