The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously tonight to appoint Joseph Mauro as Southborough’s new fire chief. The decision caps off a selection process that took nearly nine months.
The appointment is a promotion for Mauro, who had been serving as a captain in the Southborough Fire Department. He is the brother of former Fire Chief John Mauro, Jr.
I’ll have all the details on the blog tomorrow, so be sure to check back.
CONGRATS! to Joseph Mauro from a CERT member.
Congrats to Joe Mauro! I am certainly glad the Selectmen took a second look at qualified candidates.
Congratulations!
And well done to our Selectmen.
Congratulations to Mr. Mauro. I wish him all the best.
He will have an exceptionally difficult job separating himself from the culture he has grown up in at the Southborough Fire Department. It is exceedingly difficult for someone who has been a union member to now become the leader. Perhaps the greatest task he will have to face is how to maintain appropriate services and reduce the cost to the town. A difficult task for an outsider, and I believe a next-to-impossible task for an insider.
I wish him all the best!
