FARMINGTON, CT – Kathleen “Kally” Hayes McGuinness passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31. She was born on December 22, 1934, to the late Edmond J. and Ellen (Landers) Hayes and was raised in the Frog Hollow section of Hartford, CT. She was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1952 and Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1956. She raised her family in South Windsor before moving to Farmington.
Kally’s lifelong nursing career at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center spanned over 40 years, during which she touched many new lives as a labor and delivery nurse. In addition, she enjoyed interacting with patients while working in the offices of Woodland Women’s Health. In her spare time, Kally loved to read, travel, explore her Irish heritage and spend time with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She had a great sense of kindness and calm which always put others at ease and her cheerful soft blue eyes smiled often. To all who crossed her life’s path, Kally was generous with her time, talents, sincerity and wisdom. As we watched her health decline during the past few years, we were inspired by her courage, strength and grace.
Kally’s kind heart and positive spirit will live on in those who survive her especially her four children and their spouses: Patricia and Neal Marmillion of Austin, TX; Michael and Mary McGuinness of Southborough, MA; Elizabeth and John Arbeiter of Ellington, CT; and Joan and Kris Rocheleau of Georgia, VT. She will be deeply missed by her 12 grandchildren: Jason, Scott, Kyle and Brian Marmillion; Michael, Matthew and Amanda McGuinness; Lauren, Kevin and Thomas Arbeiter; and Sean and Daniel Rocheleau. She is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Edmond J. and Katherine Hayes of Mystic, CT, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends. Kally was predeceased by her sister Maureen H. Connors.
The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Mary’s Home and Masonicare Partners as well as to her many friends and relatives who visited her often and supported her as her health declined.
