The Northborough-Southborough schools are embarking on a project to develop a new strategic plan that will guide the district over the next decade or so. They’ll introduce the project to the community at a public meeting tomorrow night. They’re also looking for volunteers to join the Steering Committee. Find more details in this announcement from district administrators.
Dear Northborough and Southborough Community Members:
The Public Schools of Northborough – Southborough are preparing to develop a new Strategic Plan entitled Vision 2020: Strategically Planning for Our Future. We have engaged the services of MARS (Massachusetts Association of Regional Schools) Consulting Group to support us in this endeavor. We will be working with three consultants, all of whom are retired Superintendents who have served regional school districts. All of them have had extensive careers in education, including strategic planning. The MARS Consulting Group has been working to develop a process that will lead us to our plan. For more information about the MARS Consulting Group, please review the brochure, which is also available on our website at www.nsboro.k12.ma.us.
We are sharing a copy of the Power Point presentation that they used to introduce the process to the combined school committees and to the district administrative leadership team. There are four essential phases to the process:
- Collect the data
- Clarify the vision
- Identify critical issues / Choose the strategies
- Write the plan
These will be followed by an inclusive effort to disseminate and communicate the new Strategic Plan with all constituent groups in the school community.
We are poised to begin the initial phase of data collection before the end of this school year. The first event will
be a public meeting during which MARS Consulting Group will explain the process in more detail and begin to answer questions and accept input from the school community. We invite you to join us onMay 22, 2012
