Guy L. Akers, 96, formerly of Southborough, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 in the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge.
His wife of 42 years, Regina (Fitzpatrick) Akers died in 1995. He leaves two sons, Jay Akers, and his wife, Patti of Milford and Stephen Akers, and his wife, Janet of Vicksburg, MS; two grandchildren, Michael and Kate; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Akers and a sister, Barbara Williams.
He was born in East Andover, Maine, son of Guy L. and Lucetta (Howard) Akers and he lived in Weston before moving to Southborough where he lived for over 50 years. He graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Guy worked for Whitin Machine Works for many years, retiring in 1980. He was an avid sports enthusiast who also enjoyed fishing.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 21, at 10:30 am in Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street. Burial will follow in Southborough Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 20, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
