Family needed to host a foreign exchange student at Algonquin next year

The Southborough and Northborough Rotary Clubs are looking for a family to host a foreign exchange student who will spend the year at Algonquin. Here’s more info sent along by the Rotary Clubs:

The Southborough and Northborough Rotary Clubs are pleased to announce they are again participating in the Rotary International Student Exchange program for the 2013 academic year. Working together, the Southborough and Northborough Rotary Clubs are sponsoring a foreign exchange student who will be entering Algonquin Regional High School in the fall of 2012.

This program presents a unique opportunity for one or more local families to participate in Rotary International’s worldwide student exchange program by becoming a host family. A host family is a vital part of the exchange program, immersing the student in a variety of activities while in the host country. The host family plays a large role in offering the student a view of another country and gains the opportunity to learn about a new culture from a young leader.

Hosting is a tremendous experience in which you can share in a young person’s hopes and dreams and develop a lifelong connection with a student and family from another country. Host families in the program come in all shapes and sizes. They can be Rotarians or non-Rotarians, and may include young children, older children, or no children at all. The rewards are immeasurable.

If you are interested in knowing more about this opportunity please contact either Carl Guyer of the Southborough Rotary Club at (508) 481-3770 or carl.guyer@gmail.com, or contact Patricia Doyle of the Northborough Rotary Club
