Today is the last day for Southborough Town Administrator Jean Kitchen, who is retiring after six years on the job. At her final Board of Selectmen meeting on Tuesday night, selectmen thanked her for her service.
“When I started I needed a ‘Selectmen For Dummies’ book. They don’t have that, but you gave me time, energy, and effort to educate me,” Chairman John Rooney said. “I cannot thank you enough for paving this challenging road I’ve chosen.”
“It’s been an honor,” Selectman Bill Boland said. “Everyone should know what a tremendous job you’ve done for the town of Southborough…We’ve all learned quite a bit from you.”
Kitchen returned the thanks to the board and to town department heads. “You are all so committed to this community,” she said.
Assistant Town Manager Vanessa Hale will become Acting Town Manager until a new town administrator (or town manager?) is hired. Maureen Colleary will be Acting Assistant Town Manager.
Thank you to Jean for your service to our Town, to many you were more than just an Administrator. I personally am grateful for all your guidance and help with various questions I have had, you will be sorely missed. Best wishes for your retirement!!
