Southborough’s Lisa Braccio to be honored as a ‘Good Scout’

Congratulations to Southborough resident Lisa Braccio who will be honored next month with the Knox Trail Council’s Good Scout award. The award recognizes Lisa’s work organizing semi-annual care package drives for the troops. Read more in this press release:

Ms. Lisa Braccio and Mr. Parker Swan will be honored at the 2012 Northborough/Southborough Good Scout Dinner held to be held on November 14th, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough, MA. The social hour starts at 6:00 pm, and dinner will be served at 6:55 pm. Proceeds of the annual event will benefit the Boy Scout’s Knox Trail Council. The BSA Knox Trail Council serves thousands of youths in 21 towns in the greater Metro West area.

Parker Swan, a resident of Northborough, is married to Claire Swan, and both are ardent supporters of their communities and families. Parker is best characterized by his own words – “We have always believed in volunteerism and in giving back to God and the community for all the blessings we have received.” Parker has been active in the Saint Rose of Lima parish, the Northborough Historical Society, and Northborough Helping Hands Association, as well as being the Gazette Magic Santa for over 20 years.

Lisa Bracccio, a resident of Southborough, is married to Matt Braccio and is founder of a grass roots effort to show our service members serving abroad unwavering support through care packages. Since reading the words of actual service members looking for care packages, Lisa was instrumental in getting together community volunteers that included Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, schools, clubs, veterans and others to have Care Package Drives that have shipped more than 7,200 boxes of donated care package items weighing over 162,000 pounds.

Help the Knox Trail Council honor and recognize Lisa Braccio and Parker Swan by joining us for the 2012 annual Good Scout Award recognition dinner and evening of celebration. Your contribution will also help provide services such as scholarships, camping programs and many other forms of training and materials for the youth of our community.

If you are unable to attend this event, please consider a financial contribution to help maintain the viability of this critical character-building program.

This annual Good Scout Award recognizes esteemed individuals who have made significant contributions to their community. Please make your reservations to attend by November 2 nd, 2012. Additional information can be found at www.ktc-bsa.org/goodscout.htm or you can contact Bob Wyman at rwyman@bsamail.org.

Lisa’s award is very well deserved. Not only is her consideration for the troops greatly appreciated, the care packages go above and beyond what we usually receive here in Afghanistan. For one woman to gain the support of a town in these care packages speaks of her character. Congratulations, Lisa, job well done!
