Start your Thanksgiving off right with Southborough’s annual Gobble Wobble road race. There’s still time to register for the race and all the associated family fun. Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help out for an hour or so the day of the race. Shifts start at 7:30 am.

Find out more in this press release:

Friends of the Southborough Recreation Department, Inc. (FOSR) and the Southborough Recreation Department proudly sponsor Southborough’s 6th Annual Gobble Wobble. This family-friendly event draws more than one thousand participants each year, and includes a certified 5K road race, 2 mile family walk and free kids fun run on Thanksgiving morning, November 22, 2012.

The event is held at the Trottier Middle School, 49 Parkerville Road, in Southborough, MA. Registration starts at 7am and the race begins at 8:30am. The kids fun run will follow the race, starting at 9:30am. Three separate fun run races include children ages 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11. Children need to pre-register and have a waiver signed by a parent to participate. The winning girl and boy in each heat will receive a turkey trophy and all registered children will receive a medal and enjoy a free pass for a round of mini-golf at Trombetta’s Farm. So, Run, Walk, or Wobble your way to a healthy start on Thanksgiving Day and enjoy a traditional Southborough event.

Without the generous support from our dedicated volunteers and sponsors, this annual event would not be possible. We are grateful for our Elite sponsor, Roche Brothers, along with sponsors Middlesex Savings Bank, Capital Group Properties, New England Center for Children, Eagle Leasing, Global Printing, Greenwood Industries, Wee Care, NRG Bar, Sheri Beran Graphic Design, Port Printing Solutions, Marlborough Saving Bank, Fay School, Southborough House of Pizza, Wegman’s, Long Automotive Group, Tomasso/Panzano, Nancy Gould Photography, Fit Studio 28, Domino’s Pizza of Southborough, State Representative Carolyn Dykema, Southborough Kindergroup, Sperry’s Country Market, Southborough Village Preschool, Salon Charisma, English Garden Florist and Mauro’s Village Café. We count on community support each year and each year we receive tremendous support.

Cash prizes will be awarded to top 3 male and female runners, with a total of $1,200 in winnings. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for the 5K race and walk. Pre-registered participants receive a long sleeve technical t-shirt, individual size Table Talk Pie and bottled water provided by the British Beer Company. Coffee and breakfast items are provided by Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks of Southborough. Babysitting offered through Seeking Sitters is available for pre-registered families for $5. This event is a fundraiser for FOSR, a 501c3 non-profit organization with a tax exempt status. FOSR supports community health, togetherness and spirit by providing recreational activities, facilities and events.

In the spirit of giving, donations will be accepted for the Southborough Food Pantry and US Troops Overseas. For more information on the race please visit www.eventbrite.com. We still need volunteers for the event day so please visit www.friendsofsouthboro.com or contact Melissa Shields at melissa.shields@friendsofsouthboro.com or Doreen Ferguson at dferguson@southboroughma.com if you can help out even for a short while.
