Trees and lawns in Southborough are still coated in ice this afternoon, and forecasters are warning the evening commute could be slippery. The National Weather Service says light freezing rain continues, with a winter weather advisory in effect until 8:00 pm today.
According to the National Grid website, 392 customers are without power in all of Worcester County. Southborough has one of the highest concentration of outages, with 143 customers currently in the dark. We’re second only to Northborough which has 220 without power.
The bulk of the outages in Southborough – 122 customers – are in the vicinity of Parkerville Road south of Route 9. National Grid says on their website a crew is assigned and resolution is expected by 4:15 pm today.
Update 4:00 pm – National Grid now says 814 customers are without power in Southborough. In addition to the Parkerville Road outage, there is a large outage affecting more than 600 customers running north-to-south along Route 85 from just south of Route 9 to the Hopkinton border, and east-to-west along the Mass Pike corridor. In addition, another 68 are without power along Woodland Road. Here’s the latest outage map:
Just stopped at the post office and it was in the dark. Couldn’t mail any packages.
We just got our power back on Richards Rd….brrrrr. I hate it when that happens in the winter…even if only for 2 hours. What a wimp I am!
Also the area by Overlook (Main St. East of Marlborough Savings) is now out
National Grid crews are in town working. I’m hearing an ETA of 6:15-6:30 for East Main/Overlook.
